Top 3 creepy camping destinations to visit this Halloween!

Ready for a ghost hunt in your motorhome? These are the spookiest sites that the UK has to offer.

With a history as bloody and terrifying as the UK’s, you can guarantee a good ghost hunt somewhere around the eerie isles. If Halloween is your kind of holiday, then take note of these notoriously haunted spots in the UK. We’ve rounded up three of the scariest places that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat if you ever visit!

From wicked witches to haunted houses and ghost-infested castles, these are the destinations that will send shivers down your spine around every corner.

The Witches of Pendle Hill, Lancashire

Pendle Hill is home to the twelve Pendle Witches who were hanged at Lancaster Castle in 1612 and buried on the ominous location overlooking the village of Newchurch. A popular Halloween activity among ghost hunters is climbing to the top of the hill on Halloween to see if they can spot any paranormal activity. After catching some chills, you can go warm up in the nearby Rising Sun Pub and sample their witchy brews like Witchfinder General and Broomstick Bitter. As for campsites, we recommend Pendle Prospects to catch some sleep afterwards… if you can!

The Ghosts of Berry Pomeroy Castle, Devon

There is an alleged number of ghosts residing in Berry Pomeroy castle, but one known as the White Lady haunts the dungeons and has been seen rising from St. Margaret’s Tower above the Castle walls. Experts have identified her as the ghost of Lady Margaret Pomeroy who was imprisoned by her sister, Lady Eleanor. Sounds scary…but fear not! You can warm the cockles next to a log fire afterwards in The Pig and Whistle Pub situated just a ten-minute drive away. If you’re looking for a nearby camping spot, we recommend Widend touring park which is a five-minute drive from the castle.

The Headless horseman of Whitby, Yorkshire

Whitby is a picturesque seaside town by day, but nighttime is another story! Especially if you dare to embark on the Whitby Ghost Walk. This is a 75-minute ghostly experience that takes you on a grisly tour through time, exposing all the murder and bloodthirsty history of Whitby. Most famously spotted are a headless horseman, barghest hound, a haunted lighthouse, Dracula’s bench and the hand of glory. As well as exploring all that Whitby has to offer on your trip, you can choose from many nearby camping sites such as Bay Ness Farm and Middlewood Farm Holiday Park.

Happy haunting in the motorhome!
