3 Motorhome Friendly Festivals that are off the beaten path

If you’re a bit of an unconventional camper and like staying away from the mainstream festival frenzy why not go off the beaten trail this year? The biggest names and brands usually get all the credit, however, depending on your musical taste there are plenty of Summer festivals you can pitch at for a party without the crowds this year!

Here are some less talked about festivals that don’t get as much credit as they deserve. We’ve covered all areas of the UK and all music tastes, all you’ll have to do is pick one, plan the route and get your motorhome ready to face the music.

Camp Bestival - Dorset

The Bestival is held in Dorset and showcases music from the charts but a lot of alternatives and upcoming niche music also. This presents the perfect opportunity to enjoy new and unheard music without all the crowds you would usually get at a mainstream festival. The festival itself offers onsite motorhome camping which makes it a great destination for a motorhome festival trip this summer. Bestival will take place from 28th to the 31st July this year which makes camping even more of a treat because the UK will be in prime summer conditions!

Kendal Calling - Lake District

Kendal Calling is a festival held in the beautiful Lake District each year in Lowther Deer Park. It’s been running since 2006 and is one of the lesser-known festivals featuring some huge names such as Bastille, Stereophonics and Sophie Ellis Bexter. The predominantly rock/ indie festival is set in an amazing location on a lake and is totally motorhome friendly. Being situated in the Lake District, it is easy to find and access via car. Kendal Calling Festival will take place from the 28th to the 31st July - making it ideal camping weather.

Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival - Cheshire

Middlewich Folk and Boat is a folk festival held in the small Cheshire village of Middlewich. The festival celebrates rural life and everything Cheshire stands for and although it is a Folk festival, it has a little something for everyone! The festival has numerous campsites around the festival and takes place in different locations within the village. It is motorhome friendly but unfortunately does not have facilities such as concrete stands and electric hookups. This would suit the more carefree campers with a love for folk music and is taking place between 16th and 19th June. Headlining this year are the iconic Waterboys!
