Timberland Destiny

Timberland's fantastic-looking Destiny is based on the Fiat Ducato — Europe's most popular choice of vehicle for motorhome conversions.

The gearbox offers six gears, plus reverse, with totally automatic and manual sequential modes. In manual mode the driver can freely choose the ratio required by manoeuvring the joystick lever on the dash. There is no clutch pedal. In automatic mode, drivers can specify profiles suited to current driving conditions such as mountain roads or heavy urban traffic.

Compared to traditional automatic gearboxes, Comfort-Matic is about 30% lighter, resulting in improved fuel economy, better energy efficiency as well as an appreciable reduction in the cost of maintenance and repairs.

Speak to anyone who has driven a Ducato and they will tell you it drives just like a car. Tall drivers will always find a comfortable driving position thanks to the multi-position seat and lumbar support plus an easy-grip small-diameter steering wheel that's angled just like the steering wheel of a car.

Driver and passenger visibility is excellent thanks to large windows and well-positioned pillars.

As well as driving like a car, Ducato's cab also has a large car or spacious people-carrier feel to it with a wide well-ventilated interior, ergonomic curved dash, main controls within easy reach and a dash-mounted gear lever which makes for easier moving around the cab. Large rear-view door mirrors make for easy reversing.

All Ducato engines are Fiat patented 16-valve multiple-injection units which provide high performance, low fuel consumption, plus excellent pick-up under all driving circumstances thanks to the outstanding torque values - even when fully loaded. Emissions are low and are Euro 4 compliant.

And Ducato's suspension has been specially-tuned for motorhomes, thanks to tens of thousands of hours of bench testing and thousands of miles of road trials with a motorhome configuration.
